OUR PURPOSE

Loving God, Growing Together, and Serving Others

Our Purpose

"And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, ...Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:"

- Matthew 28:16-20

During His earthly ministry, Jesus left His followers with specific instructions to carry out after His sacrificial death, resurrection and return to Heaven. That was roughly 2000 years ago! And we are seeking to carry out these instructions in practical, creative, relevant and biblical ways today, in our church, community and world.

The way we've chosen to easily remember why we're here and what we're trying to accomplish is to say that we exist to:

Love God

Grow Together

Serve Others

1. Love God

Mark 12:30

30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

First, we must receive His love, by receiving Jesus Christ as our Savior by faith. Then, we demonstrate our love for Him when we gather for worship services, when we bring Him our tithes and offerings, and as we walk with Him personally through prayer and Bible study. (Hebrews 10:25, Psalm 34:3, 1 Thessalonians 2:13, 1 Corinthians 16:1-2, Joshua 1:8, Mark 1:35)

2. Grow Together

Acts 2:42

42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Spiritual growth is a team sport. This teamwork happens when we unite in participation with the local church. It continues as we study the Bible on our own, especially with a mentor or Growth Group. Ultimately, spiritual growth means taking continual, personal steps toward Christ-likeness. (Acts 2:41, Romans 12:4-5, 1 Corinthians 12:18-20, 2 Timothy 2:2, Acts 2:46, 5:42, Ephesians 4:22-24)

3. Serve Others

1 Peter 4:10

10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

Galatians 5:13b

13 ...by love serve one another.

God has gifted us to serve Him and others. We exercise this purpose when we find a place to serve within the church--the possibilities are endless. We are also privileged to serve those outside the church by sharing the gospel with friends, by positively impacting our community in the name of Jesus, and by supporting the worldwide spread of the Gospel through missions. (Romans 12:4-8, Mark 16:15, Acts 1:8)
